The section box in Revit is a great tool, and something that makes it even more powerful is my favourite Revit Add-In: the ‘Auto Section Box’. It saves time getting a good look at anything in 3D, no matter where it is in your model. When you select the Section box from this position, you will see a rotation symbol on one of its corners. Simply click and drag it to ratate the Section Box. If at any point you want to reset the section box, you can simply go to the properties of the view, uncheck Section box, and check it again to get it back to be NS oriented. One way to avoid such frustrations with new versions is to utilize the Keyboard Shortcut in Revit®. Either using the out-of-the-box keyboard shortcuts, customizing the defaults, or a combination of the two. I typically recommend a combination of using defaults and some customization.
